Pabna hosts special games Wed, 14/12/2011



At least 90 physically handicapped, most of them mentally-challenged children took part in special games at Pabna Stadium where the Special Olympics Sub-Chapter of Pabna organised the first of such tournaments yesterday.


According to the organisers, at least 90 mentally and physically challenged children, selected from the Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID) Bangladesh and other disabled children's schools, participated in the 50m and 100m races, long jump, ball throwing and other such disciplines. The participants, categorised according to age, were accommodated in 20 events.

Deputy Commissioner of Pabna Mustafizur Rahman inaugurated the special events as the chief guest, while Special Olympics Sub Chapter Pabna unit vice president Habibur Rahman Rashid chaired on the occasion.
